Face Up To Your Fears

Most people in life never reach their goals. The number one issue holding people back is fear. Fear of failure. Fear of success. Fear of being inadequate. Fear of not being liked or loved. Fear of embarrassment or losing face. Fear of being alone. Fear of… the list is endless.

As most of what we fear NEVER comes true (except death and THAT usually much later in life), all that fear is wasted energy. That wasted energy could have been used for growth, learning, strength building and success. Our point today is, face up to your fears and they will almost always go away. Here are 8 ways to face up to your fears, ALL of which get easier they more often you practice them and ACT ON your fear:

1. Fear of public speaking? Join Toastmasters International, learning to speak. ACT ON it!

2.  Fear of your boss? Ask 3 mentors for advice and set an appointment with your boss for an open discussion. Express both your fear and what you want to do to improve the situation. Then PROVE you are a great worker. ACT ON it!

3. Fear of heights? Take up rock climbing with professionals. You start on the ground and gradually work your way up. ACT ON it!

4.  Fear of taking a promotion? Pray on it. Ask 3 mentors for advice. Talk it over with your spouse or parents. If it is a good career move, embrace it. Block out the extra hours for work and for learning the job to make the promotion a huge success. ACT ON it!

5. Fear of commitment in a relationship? Pray on it and seek in your heart if it is true love. If you know it is love, talk to 3 happily married couples and get their input to help in your decision. ACT ON it!

6.  Fear of death? Read about and talk to people with near death experiences as most lost all fear of death. As a Christian, I am looking forward to my eternal reward which removed my fear. ACT ON it!

7.  Fear of contacting a prospect to sell something? My dad taught me, your prospects puts on their pants the same way you do… one leg at a time. They are no better, no less than you. ACT ON it!

8.  Fear of success… if I make it, won`t I be expected to do even better the NEXT time? YES! And if you can do it once, you can do it again. Trust yourself and ACT ON it!

Either you control your fears or your fears will control you... FOREVER. Our limits in life are self imposed and reinforced by fears. Remember FEAR is an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real. God gave us talents and skills and passions to use, not to bury or hide. ACT ON your fears by taking ACTiON.
